What this licence actually covers
- Air quality, vape index, noise, temperature and humidity in Command
- Alerts to named people when a threshold is crossed
- History kept alongside camera footage on the same timeline
Worth knowing
The vape index is a likelihood signal. It is not proof that anyone vaped, and a sensor is not a smoke or fire detector.
Which devices take the sensor licence
Verified against Verkada’s own datasheets. If your model is not here it is almost certainly an older one, and it almost certainly still licences — search the full list or just ask.
| Model | What it is |
|---|---|
| SV21The basic sensor | Temperature, humidity and CO₂ only. No vape detection |
| SV23The vape sensor | Adds vape and THC index, TVOC, PM2.5/4/10, noise, motion and air quality index. This is where vape detection starts |
| SV25The full sensor | Everything in the SV23 plus ambient light, carbon monoxide, formaldehyde and audio recording |
| SV11Previous generation | End-of-sale March 2023, supported to March 2033. Still licensable |
Is your hardware end-of-sale? It still renews.
Verkada supports a product for ten years after its end-of-sale date, and licences stay purchasable and renewable throughout — a CD52 that went end-of-sale in 2025 is supported into 2035 and renews normally. Better still, Verkada lets licence value transfer to upgraded hardware, so a renewal is also the natural moment to replace a camera without throwing the licence away. The full end-of-sale list is here.
Count the sensors, wherever they are mounted.
One licence per sensor, whether it is watching air quality in a classroom or vape in a toilet block.
Co-terming
Verkada licences share one expiry date across your whole Command organisation, so this renews alongside everything else you hold.
